Playful Learning: The Space

April 28, 2010

After weeks of contemplating, discussing, budgeting, negotiating, and waiting, I now have in my possession what my husband refers to as “a fully executed” lease for a small retail/workshop space!

Right now it is a blank canvas, yet my plans are to transform it into a retail space that sells all of our favorite educational toys, games and supplies. There is also a small room in the back that I would like to use to teach hands-on workshops for children in social skills, writing, science, and… I could go on forever.

Creating a space that children and parents can come to learn, play, share, and be with other families has been a dream of mine for a long time. Last month when the perfect space opened up, we decided to take a leap of faith and go for it! This project has really become a family endeavor. My husband has become a wonderful business partner, and the girls have transformed into interior designers extraordinaire!

I will still be sharing our learning experiences here in the same manner I have been, but now I will most likely be including some more thoughts on creating playful learning spaces and new, exciting products! Stay tuned…
