Number Salad

August 4, 2008

Fruit SaladToday we tried out a recipe for Number Salad from the book, Pretend Soup by Mollie Katzen and Ann Henderson. Pretend Soup is a wonderful cooking resource for families with young children. The steps for each recipe are clearly numbered and illustrated so children of any age can fully participate in the process. There are many educational concepts that children can gain from cooking. This recipe in particular gave my three year old the opportunity to practice: following directions, number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, measuring and counting skills.
