Baking and Breaking Bread Together

December 28, 2009

Baking BreadI have always loved the idea of baking fresh bread for our family—yet it always seemed like an elaborate process that I was never quite ready to dive into.

Well—everything changed when my husband discovered this recipe from Sullivan Street Bakery for no-knead bread. The recipe is simple, the whole family can be involved and it tastes delicious

Here is the recipe in a nutshell:

3 Cups All Purpose Flour
1/4 tsp Yeast
1  1/4 tsp Salt
1 1/2 Cup Water

Kneading BreadHand mix and let sit covered for 12 hours
Fold it a few times—sprinkle flour/wheat germ
Set into covered pan heated at 500F
Cook for 30 minutes with cover
Remove cover—continue cooking for 15-20 minutes to brown
Remove and let sit to cool!

Enjoy…
