An Art Party
My oldest daughter celebrated her 6th birthday yesterday. After exploring a variety of birthday party themes, she decided to have an art party.
She made all of her own invitations using blank note cards, stamps and stickers. I printed out the details of the party on white paper and pasted them inside of the cards. It was great practice for her to write all of her friend’s names on the envelopes.
We bought blank canvas “art bags” and put each child’s name on it. When her guests arrived they used fabric markers to decorate their bags. Then we used the same bags to hold the party favors (watercolor paints, markers and oil pastels) that we gave out at the end of the party.
We also invited a wonderful local artist, Elizabeth Karsch to come and paint pottery with the kids. Every child decorated his/her own plate and the individuality of each design was truly inspiring. Elizabeth was amazing with the children – if you live locally, I would highly recommend her!
The finishing touch was a crayon piñata filled with our daughter’s favorite goodies!
It was a wonderful group of children and the day was filled with artsy goodness…
