Spring has sprung—well not quite yet outside, but inside, flowers are in full bloom.
We have been experimenting with wire as a new medium lately and it has been really fun. After lots of time bending, twisting and exploring this new material, the girls decided to create some flowers. After flipping through our wildflower field guide they each selected a flower to replicate. We found that it was helpful to start out by doing a black line drawing and to then use the drawn lines as a guide while making the sculpture.
Although we started out using a variety of wires from the local hardware store, we recently found this kit, which contains wire that is very easy to manipulate and comes in lots of pretty colors.
